Black and White Wide Porcelain Ring – Size T

This simple porcelain band is handmade and completely unique. It's designed and made by me in my studio in Oxford. Because of the making process, each is a one-off. This ring is carved from white porcelain clay, with a hand coloured black line running through part of the inside of the band.

Emily Marston uses coloured pigments mixed with white porcelain to create colours and patterns within the ring. After firing, the surface is polished to create a smooth tactile surface.

Large/Extra Large

Ring size: approx. T UK or 19.5 mm internal diameter.

Band thickness: 7mm

Care Instructions: If any marks get onto your jewellery, you can wash them off easily with soap and water.

The ring is fired to a high temperature and is a strong material. However, it can still be fragile if dropped onto a hard surface so I would recommend putting on and taking off your jewellery over a soft surface.

    Inspiration and Techniques

    Each work is handmade using slab building and carving techniques. The vases incorporate a fine layer of twisted and folded hand-coloured clay embedded into the surface, meaning no two are the same. Each piece of jewellery has porcelain inlaid onto the surface, also making each one unique. This patterning process has gradually developed after becoming fascinated with Nerikomi technique and hand-colouring clay as soon as Emily started working with pottery.
