Wheel thrown stoneware candlestick. Painted in layers of black slip with small slip beads placed randomly across the surface, this candlestick is then fired and coated in a layer of glaze to give a high-shine, glassy finish.

Throwing lines are left prominent on the length of the candlestick, which is solid to give a satisfying weight to the object.
For a secure fit, melt the bottom of your candle a little before inserting into the opening!

Inspiration and Techniques
Ashley’s ceramics are inspired by the architectural details she notices in Brighton & Hove, especially the paint-splattered iron railings and ornate street furniture. These elements influence her work, capturing moments and places of interest. Using slip decoration, painting, and trailing techniques, she enhances the texture and form of her pieces, exaggerating their silhouettes. The result is a rich, tactile surface that blends functional art with personal narrative.
