Delving deeper into its creation, Jason meticulously gilded the natural edge of the wood with 18-carat gold leaf, complementing it with teal colour sheets for added texture and contrast. He envisages the fusion of wood and resin as a painterly representation of an island seen from above, with the waves of the sea lapping at its shores. Measuring two inches thick, this art form is not only visually striking when mounted on a wall or displayed on a shelf with a plate stand—as shown in the accompanying images—but also functional, featuring a small bowl area for storing various items.
