Small Marbled Dish

£25.00

The colours and forms Emily includes in her collections are inspired by water, sky and her local landscape. Emily uses the grounding quality of clay to explore ideas of flow, balance and connection to nature. Each dish is handmade in her garden studio in East Oxford using, or inspired by Nerikomi and agateware processes, creating patterns within the body of the piece. They're fired twice and glazed with a clear food safe glaze. They are all completely unique and individual pieces.  By their nature they may reveal small differences which are all part of their handmade character. Size: Approx. 8cm diameter.

    Inspiration and Techniques

Each work is handmade using slab building and carving techniques. The vases incorporate a fine layer of twisted and folded hand-coloured clay embedded into the surface, meaning no two are the same. Each piece of jewellery has porcelain inlaid onto the surface, also making each one unique. This patterning process has gradually developed after becoming fascinated with Nerikomi technique and hand-colouring clay as soon as Emily started working with pottery.
