Black and Teal Porcelain Earrings
£20.00
In stock
Emily Marston uses coloured pigments mixed with white porcelain to create colours and patterns within the clay. After firing, the earring is polished to create a smooth tactile surface.
Size: Approx. 9mm x 9mm
Care Instructions: The porcelain is fired to a high temperature and is a strong material. However, it can still be fragile if dropped onto a hard surface so I would recommend putting on and taking off your jewellery over a soft surface. If any marks get onto your jewellery, you can wash them off easily with soap and water.
Inspiration and Techniques
Each work is handmade using slab building and carving techniques. The vases incorporate a fine layer of twisted and folded hand-coloured clay embedded into the surface, meaning no two are the same. Each piece of jewellery has porcelain inlaid onto the surface, also making each one unique. This patterning process has gradually developed after becoming fascinated with Nerikomi technique and hand-colouring clay as soon as Emily started working with pottery.
