Karen began weaving willow fifteen years ago after learning how to make willow obelisks for her garden.  As a former gardener and horticultural therapist Karen explored how to use willow in the garden and for therapeutic purposes.  Her interest in basketry developed initially as a hobby but as she read more about the social history of baskets and the people that made them, she became fascinated by the many types and uses of baskets and wanted to develop her interest further by starting a new career as a Basket maker.  After attending many courses and teaching herself some of the techniques that she now uses, she made the leap to full time self employment in 2022.
