Philippa Taylor (Taylor Black Jewellery)
Taylor Black Jewellery was born out of the desire to learn traditional jewellery making skills. At the time designer maker Philippa Taylor was working in a London advertising agency and she was conscious of wanting to have a tangible physical skill in this world instead of PowerPoint and strategy writing.
After studying jewellery manufacturing at the University of the Arts and the British Jewellery School in London’s historic jewellery quarter Hatton Garden, Philippa launched the brand Taylor Black (an amalgamation of her maiden and married surnames).
Her delicate fine jewellery is designed and made in her Georgian townhouse in the Cotswolds. Philippa predominantly uses recycled yellow gold and ethically sourced and sustainable gemstones such as Slate Pyrite from Germany. This is a direction she constantly seeks to evolve in her business.
Philippa enjoys using traditional techniques and her style is simple and classic so the wearer creates the impact of the pieces. They are designed to transcend trends so that the pieces endure and form a staple part of owners jewellery collection for many years to come.
