Steve Cook is a self-taught potter, embarked on his creative journey by founding Modern Ceramic in early 2023, following a thriving business career. His artistic pursuit represents a reinvention and reinterpretation of studio ceramics, weaving a seamless blend of tradition and contemporary flair into every creation. The genesis of his work is rooted in a diverse range of influences, spanning sci-fi, typography, science, minimalism, brutalism, Japanese ceramics, Nordic design, and even the iconic Lego.

With a commitment to timeless aesthetics, Steve crafts objects that honour tradition while pushing the boundaries of progressive form. His studio, Modern Ceramic, garnered acclaim with Steve winning the prestigious Author Interiors Choice award at New Designers 2023. Steve's creations find a home in esteemed galleries, including the Primavera Gallery in Cambridge and Mint Gallery in London.
