Jason Lock’s artistic process begins with the rescue of small wood pieces that would typically be discarded. He stabilises and dyes the wood, bringing depth and texture to each piece. This technique allows him the freedom to craft without the constraints of traditional shapes, sizes, or colours. While he is known for these resin landscapes, Jason also takes pride in his traditional wood-turned art, thoughtfully incorporating the natural forms and contours of the trees into his work. Each piece is a unique exploration of the material’s potential, reflecting Jason’s dedication to innovation and his reverence for the natural world.

Inspiration and Techniques
Jason’s work is inspired by the natural world, particularly space, oceans, and planets. By combining wood and resin, he has developed a technique that mimics the fluidity of painting, where the resin is poured in a way that interacts with the wood to create striking, dynamic designs. This method allows for more creative freedom and enables him to incorporate smaller pieces of wood, giving each piece a unique, layered look. For Jason, woodturning is not just a craft but also a therapeutic practice that helps him cope with pain while expressing his creativity.
