A slender, wheel-thrown stoneware vase. Made on the wheel in sections and assembled thereafter.

The piece is adorned with rings of small clay protrusions in a variety of shapes, each of which was individually hand formed and placed.
It is finished in a combination of glazes which come together to produce a dark green/bronze colour, with glossy deep blue flashes around the rim. Fully glazed, this piece holds water for cut flowers and foliage with tall stems, but is also an engaging object when empty.

Inspiration and Techniques
Ashley’s ceramics are inspired by the architectural details she notices in Brighton & Hove, especially the paint-splattered iron railings and ornate street furniture. These elements influence her work, capturing moments and places of interest. Using slip decoration, painting, and trailing techniques, she enhances the texture and form of her pieces, exaggerating their silhouettes. The result is a rich, tactile surface that blends functional art with personal narrative.
