Jason Lock meticulously handcrafts each trinket box, starting with a special stabilisation process. The wood is treated in a vacuum chamber filled with resin, which is then drawn deep into the wood grain under pressure, ensuring durability and a gleaming finish. After curing the wood in an oven, Jason mixes a two-part resin, colours it, and sets it into a mould with carefully selected burl wood to create unique patterns.
The resin sets in a pressure pot, ensuring a bubble-free and hardened finish. Jason then shapes the hardened resin on a lathe to reveal the final product – a trinket box that is not only visually striking but also user-friendly, easy to clean, and resistant to scratches and moisture.
Each trinket box is a testament to Jason’s skill, with two separate compartments and three storage spaces, measuring 150mm in height and 85mm in diameter. The London plane burl’s natural beauty is preserved, making each box a one-of-a-kind piece, perfect for safeguarding small treasures.
