Green and Yellow Small Handwoven Purse

This project is a result of experimentation over the years with colours, materials and patterns. The samples started to pile up, and all of a sudden they were overflowing the drawers when the idea came to repurpose them into purses. The materials are woven by hand and carefully selected to create a durable yet beautiful piece. Each purse is one of a kind, with its own unique pattern and colour scheme and features a beautiful kimono and block print lining which adds to the fun.

approximately 14X10 cm, made out of lambswool and kimono silk, only wash by hand, do not tumble dry and keep away from fire.

    Inspiration and Techniques

    Szonja is a curious weaver with a passion for discovering the endless possibilities of colours and patterns to enhance creative thinking and bring joy to people’s lives. Szonja has synaesthesia, which means she associates colours and patterns with sound, therefore most of her inspiration comes from music. She intuitively creates patterns and colour palettes in response to different genres this way discovering new shapes, patterns and interesting, unusual combinations which she weaves into a soft and tactile fabric to bring joy for its wearer.
