Inspired by pen and pencil marks from my other life as a graphic designer, this free-spirited pattern has been created using a method called sgraffito, where each line is delicately scratched individually on the painted surface.

Inspiration and Techniques
Typically focussed on functional pieces and tableware, Violaine brings her eye for detail into every creation. She loves experimenting with different techniques such as raku and wood firings, an intricate and labour-intensive process where pieces go through intensive alternative firing processes.
For Violaine, the resulting patterns and surfaces are fascinating. Each piece emerges with unpredictable markings, unique in character, and guiding the imagination down a different path.
