Hand thrown vessel, with a textured off-white crackle glaze reminiscent of a lunar landing, complete with craters. Carbon reactions occurring when the red hot piece was placed into burning wood has created irregular dark patches which may evolve over time. The glazed area contrasts with the rough and bare surface of the clay, which has been randomly blackened by the smoke. On one side of the vessel the glaze has separated and formed a glassy cascade, adding to the overall feeling of exploring strange and unfamiliar territory.
In stock
Unglazed and porous inside. The vessel has been mineral waxed for a soft sheen finish. This piece is entirely irregular, and therefore unique.
Made in a gritty East London courtyard.
Approx dimensions W16.5 x H21.5 cm
